New Album out 12/19/23--THE OTHER SIDE
News Flash! This album was just nominated as best pop album in the 2024 New Mexico Music Awards. And the song, Chasing the Blues was nominated as the best blues song. Winners to be announced May 19th at the awards ceremony!
This wonderful seven song album hit the streaming and downloading sites as of 12/19/23. It's a confluence of blues, social/political consciousness and fabulous production of songs that I think are very easy to listen to. It was recorded and mixed by Jono Manson, The Kitchen Sink Studios, Santa Fe. Jono also sings harmony on the songs and plays guitars. The results have exceeded my expectations, and I am terribly proud of this album. Larry Mitchell plays some lead guitar tracks, Alicia Ultan adds viola on the title song, and Mark Clark and Ron Johnson add percussion and bass respectively. It's available in most of the usual places, but on bandcamp you can order a physical CD or USB. Please take a listen on my bandcamp site. xo
A Radio Show?
Yes, apparently I agreed to do a one hour local radio show weekly. No, I have no experience! It's a steep learning curve, but great fun. The show is on low power FM radio at KUPR 99.9 on the FM dial. The show streams live at KUPR.org.
It is on Sunday evenings from 6-7pm as part of a four hour segment called Women's Voices. My segment is called Chasing the Muse. I play a variety of women's music, and have started interviewing local singer-songwriters and visual artists, which has been very interesting. Wish me luck!
Bronze Medal Wins in the 2022 Global Music Awards!
I entered the 2022 Global Music Awards with resignation that my entries would not really go anywhere, but this December, I was notified that my song "One Two Three" received two bronze medal awards--one for best song and one for editing and mixing! Much credit is due to my producer/friend/mentor, Larry Mitchell who knows much about receiving awards. Larry actually encouraged me to enter this song after he entered and won best instrumental album in these awards last year. This awards contest is centered on promoting and elevating the music of independent artists around the globe, and indeed, it seems that many of the winners are from countries outside the US. You can check out their website at globalmusicawards.com. Very grateful to be part of this year's honorees. :)
